Several Hurt as Turbulence Strikes A Delta Airlines Flight Landing at Sydney, Australia

A number of individuals sustained injuries when a Delta flight traveling from LA to Sydney experienced rough air Friday morning.

Flight DL41 "went through a short bout of rough air" as it made its approach and landed at the Sydney airport, an airline spokesperson told. Four flight attendants required medical attention.

Emergency medical services stated they treated five patients, and transported three of them to hospital with minor injuries that included spinal discomfort and headaches. Those affected spanned from their 30s to 70s.

It is the latest incident of aircraft encountering turbulence, with aviation specialists saying that climate change is a key driver.

There were nearly 250 travelers and fifteen staff members on the Airbus A350, the official noted, stating that the plane touched down "safely and normally" at the airport at 6:48 a.m. local time on Friday.

Emergency responders reported they got a call just three minutes ahead of the plane landed, and emergency vehicles were waiting on the tarmac.
