The second-hand shopping app has revised its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel failing to inform all users about the change. Social Media Backlash Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration. The platform stated the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces. They have suggested members to review their products and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction. Sizing System Updates Previously, the sizing featured one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10. The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10. In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. Shopper Stories Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder". "Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. Another user, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she said. Manual Updates A different user, based in Derby, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item". "Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she stated. Platform Context The app has more than 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users. It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop. This represents another occasion when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: last year, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
